Saturday 12th September

Saturday we travelled to Westbury Utd for our third league game in a week and injuries had taken their toll.

Missing five players we were lucky enough to be able to use the big squad of players we have.

The game kicked off and it was clear the spark wasn't quite there. We huffed and puffed but just couldn't get a foothold in the game with Westbury piling on the pressure.

On 20mins Westbury scored from a corner and took a grip of the game. 25mins in our skipper Rick Dawley fell awkwardly and looked in some discomfort and left the field of play with a bad knee injury.

A massive loss but the lads dug in and got to half time 1-0 down.

The second half we started to knock the ball around and create a few openings but we just could find that elusive goal. Westbury pushed and forced Carlo in to three fantastic saves to keep us in the game. At the other end a superb cross in to the box saw Lewis White somehow put his header over the bar from two yards out. That was our chance to steal a point I felt but when it's not your day that's what happens.

Fair play to the lads they kept going and didn't give up but it just wasn't to be our day.

On the plus side Daws injury hopefully isn't as bad as first thought and we all wish him a speedy recovery.

The games are coming thick and fast and we've no time to feel sorry for ourselves as next up is Street at home Tuesday night, time to get back on track !!

Beaves
