Saturday 19th September
Saturday saw us take on Brislington in the FA Vase .The previous few weeks has seen us picking up injury after injury and with suspensions we had no fewer than eleven squad players unavailable.
The game also saw a debut for 16 year old goalkeeper Callum Heal.
The game kicked off with Brislington putting us under pressure but not really hurting us. On 15 minutes a superb Brislington free kick flew in to the top corner to put us 1-0 down. The lads responded well and started knocking the ball around and grew in confidence.
On 30 mins a fantastic passing move from the back was finished with a cracking effort from Tom Burgess to level things up. We continued to work hard and played some good football. On the stroke of half time Jacob Bird coolly finished another attack to put us in 2-1 up at half time.
The second half saw us under a bit of pressure but the back three of Ishie , Ed and Archie were immense. The game went from end to end but with no real end product from either side. Brislington looked more dangerous in the last 20mins and two outstanding saves from Callum kept us ahead but unfortunately Brislington got their equaliser with not very long to go.
Credit to all my lads the put a huge shift in and worked tirelessly until the final whistle.
Where the game ended 2-2.
On to penalties it was and unfortunately it wasn't to be our day losing 3-2 but Callum Heal made two great penalty saves to cap off a very good debut. In all it was a great effort today but just wasn't to be, best of luck to Brislington in the next round.
Next Saturday we are back in league action when we take on Bridport at home .
We hope to see our ever great support cheer us on to victory.
Beaves
